I am now employed with a very reputable construction industry company at the corporate office. I'll enjoy front desk reception duties as well as assisting the office manager. And I start Monday July 6th.
It's good pay for the going area, great benefits including 401K and after one year, profit sharing Plus the company will match 6% on the 401K monies. This company is one of the oldest companies in UT and is considered in the top 5% of private industries. YEA! Plus the office building where I will be is only 2 years old and really cool, and dress code is business casual including jeans. Like not just on the last Friday of the month. After all, it is a construction company.
I am very excited and will hone up on the company website till Monday to get more familiar with the division (5 different divisions) and their Core Values:
1. We Value People.
2. Our word is our bond.
3. Quality services and products at the best value.
4. Always give a full measure.
Hows that for a company to work for?
To any and all of you that have had me on their prayer chain, THANK YOU! Believe me when I say, it's most appreciated, and many prayers of thanks have already been said by me as well. It's been a year today that I left AFOC in AK. It's great to be away from there and even better to be on to new and exciting employment and adventures.
YEA!!!

Underground Sprinklers 101 or maybe 102
So, we figured out the mystery of the underground sprinklers. First off, we adjusted the one in the back yard that sprayed on the shed. Course when the sprinklers were first installed there wasn't a shed there and it was directed just fine. HOWEVER now we have a shed and don't really want the darn thing getting that wet. We had to dig around the sprinkler head enough to unscrew the thing. (component?) With that done we could readjust the right stop position screw it back together and try again. Took a few tries till we got it right as we didn't realize how much difference a click makes. Now we'll still water the lawn, but not the shed.
Then we got this wild hair to see how difficult it was to aim the rest of the heads. OK that sounds easy enough. It's like 8 am on a very beautiful Sunday morning and we got nothing better to do but get seriously soaked. Yes dear youngest Daughter, playing in the sprinklers when its this warm out is way too much fun!
So we moved along each zone best we could. Some of the heads were simple as turning the little head (yes while the water is on) and things were going well till I tried to adjust down one of the sprinklers out front. Apparently you just can't keep turning the darn things. Suddenly off it popped to who knows where and I am standing under a shooting geyser of water a good 1/2 inch stream and shooting probably 12 feet in the air. And considering the amount of pressure who in the heck knows where the darn little thingy went or even what it actually looks like how big it is and if it's stuck in the neighbor's tree or what. And I continue to get soaked.
So, we get that zone shut off (takes two minutes to shut down) and proceed to hunt for the little thingy. With that found several feet away (what a surprise) we then had to figure out how to reattach it. Zone back on and you have to grab the pop up while under pressure (remember it's shooting water straight up) and hang on like you are going to strangle it. Turn off the zone (2 minutes) and try and figure out how to reattach the little thingy. Again, remember it's nice out, sunny, and I am thoroughly soaked. You feel rather silly out there hanging on to this little piece of plastic pipe cause if you let go, it goes underground and you start all over again.
Then we came around the dreaded side yard to the east. This is where we have 2 - 3 sprinkler heads that are either broken, or just buried. All that would happen along that way when we watered is a magic puddle would appear. It was a total mystery as to where the water was coming from exactly. With visions of digging up the entire back yard we just back burnered this project till we were more able to tackle it. Well, today was the day.
Started out with a small hand sized garden shovel and picked a spot and started. We are reaching into a hole now halfway up to our elbow and not finding any pipes or heads. Then we realize, you can hear the water. hmmmm. So now we are knelt down with our ears to the ground listening for what should be a sprinkler head. And got the bigger garden shovel. Sure enough it worked. And will wonders never cease but there were 4 sprinkler heads that were buried under the over growth of sod. Seems like a particular hazard to these systems. I thought I felt silly hanging on to the sprinkler out front so we could screw that together. You feel sillier listening to the ground.
Now, we'll have much better use of the water, our poor lawn will be happier, and we are thrilled. YEA!!!

Another project off the list
Today was tackle ceiling fan in the bedroom day. We've never done a ceiling fan so this was a first for Terry.
So we never have seen the attic here either and got our trusty "little giant" ladder we bought after we moved here. The "little giant" brand is made here in Springville UT and is quite popular. It's just enough ladder for us now in our modest single story ranch with a cathedral ceiling. And it got us up to the attic as well.
Attic is generously insulated to an R38 with the blown in cellulose insulation. Nice to know, but messy as all get out and EVERYTHING is absolutely buried under several inches of the stuff. So back down to do some measuring so we only disrupt what we have to.
OK, narrowed down the proper joint space between the joists, and narrowed down how far from the opening we need to go. Up Terry goes again but the flashlight I am holding is not enough for him to see. Nor did we remember to grab the tape measure. SO down I go in hunt for a flashlight he can use over where he is at and to find the tape measure.
The flashlight I was able to find is a small mag light that has LED bulbs in it we got for Christmas one year from our son! KUDOS to the little bright flashlight gift, it was priceless!! And found the tape on the bed so grabbed these back up and headed up to the top of the ladder. Even gently trying to toss these one at a time resulted in digging in the insulation to find each item. DUH
Next Terry measures and I write down the measurements and we head to the garage to make the wood brace to support the ceiling fan. That went well and back up to the attic to install this. Thankfully I only had to hand off the drill and not toss that to him as that could have been ugly!
Also grabbed the little light weight rake that I got for the bushes to
re-smooth the insulation out as he backed his way out. Again, kudos on the little bright flashlight! worked way good.
Now we get to the install part of the ceiling fan with lights. OOPS, the screws they included were still too short so it was off to the hardware store to get longer ones. Even though Payson is small we do have a hardware store.
The rest of the install went well. Fans are sort of complicated the first time around and even though we grabbed the right directions, we sometimes felt like we still were reading the directions in Spanish. no comprendo.
But, it's up! it doesn't wobble, and the bedroom light has been moved to above the kitchen sink where the most pitiful light in the world was.
Looking bright, beautiful and now cooler for the upcoming summer. YEA!!!!

June weekend with Sister and Brother in Law
OH MY GOODNESS! We had the best time ever with my sister and brother in law. They drove down to spend a long weekend with us and we drove over to Moab country to see Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. What a trip! Weather cooperated, food was grand, and company could not be beat.
While in Arches we hiked up to the Delicate Arch. This for me was the longest 3 mile climb I've done in a while. Everyone else went on ahead and I basically quit. Like about the time the huge rock face was in view ahead of us I just didn't think I could make it. I'm not exactly in shape at all.
After resting and thinking about it I figured if all I did was meet them coming down closer than where Terry left me, it would be better than defeat. Along the way I rested and finally made it to the top just as they were heading down. So my sister insisted we go back and see the arch, and in fact we did and even hiked over to the arch to stand underneath it.
Quite the feat! Quite the view, Quite the trip. The attached web site has tons of pictures but no captions, so if you would like to view two days in some glorious country take a few minutes to see the shots. And if you would rather come see this in person, let us know! We have a guest room and would love the company!

Such a nice night. It's 9:37 pm, 66 degrees with a nice breeze. Got the lawn mowed (again) and since we get free dumping at the landfill on green material I just haul the 3 bags up and dump them out and done! No grass clippings gathering around stinking, no mess from trying to mulch a real lawn. Just nice. Plus as at least one child knows . . . the view from our dump here in Payson is the best view ever so who can argue with a quick drive to toss out the grass from mowing. I feel a bit like Baa Baa Black sheep have you any wool (grass). One for the master one for the dame and one for the little boy who lives down the lane.. It's pretty much three big bags of grass clippings each mow. LOL
We'll be enjoying some great company from my lil sis and her husband on the 11th. It won't be long enough but it will be fun while it lasts and I'm so looking forward to this.
We are pretty much finished with the kitchen remodel at least as far as we are taking it for now. We aren't really ready for new counter tops but heck it would be nice. we are lining up to get some painting done. You just can't be in the paint business and live in a house that is all one color. ICK. and an icky off white that is dirty at that. It's just not right.
So once we get some painting done, I'll post pictures.
